SUMMARY:October 2022 Innovation Insights
DESCRIPTION:Our monthly webinar series “Innovation Insights” continued October 31\, as IACMI CEO\,  Dale Brosius\,  moderated discussions on recent technology advancements that industry may not be fully aware of. On Monday\, October 31 at 12PM ET\, we continued a one-hour series of presentations from IACMI members and partners\, where they  provided background on new technology\, products\, and the key advantages provided\, as well as application examples. \n  \nIn this event you’ll hear from: \n\nAndrew Bader \nCo-founder & Vice President·Additive Engineering Solutions (AES) \nLFAM Applications Beyond Tooling… ABSTRACT: Over the last several years\, polymer LFAM has demonstrated lots of success in the tooling for composites market; recently however\, the technology has opened up to thermoplastic composite parts production and has delivered value in a number of different ways. This presentation showcases a few of those applications and the value it has brought to new markets. \n\nReyes Baeza \nComposites Manufacturing Manager – Suspension Group North America·Rassini International\, Inc. \nRassini – Innovation Keeps Us Ahead – ABSTRACT: Rassini is a world leader designing and manufacturing Automotive Suspension products. The first company in North America to develop and implement high volume HP-RTM process for Automotive Parts and now expanding its product portfolio for light weighting using different manufacturing technologies. \n\n\n\nDr. Hendrik Mainka \nProject Lead Sr. at the Innovation Hub Knoxville·Volkswagen Group of America \nLightweight Body Panels – A Composite Liftgate for the Volkswagen Atlas – ABSTRACT: This presentation will highlight the major steps in the development process on the way to technology readiness for SMC using the example of the Volkswagen Atlas Liftgate. Over the 36-month period of the project\, the work focused on three R&D areas: material development\, design and simulation\, and development of the manufacturing process. The result is an e-coat (electrophoretic dip coating) capable Class-A SMC Liftgate\, which is ready for high-volume production\, and can be used as a technology demonstrator. \n\nWatch the recording: https://youtu.be/sC1Pa0fv4No
